L4DTF2BBQ!

posted by Pie21 in News |

As if welcoming us back, Robin Walker – the father of TF2 – has updated the Team Fortress blog for the first time in a long one. Evidently they’ve been ensnared by the Left 4 Dead team to help polish it up to give it that trademark TF2 shine:

We’ve learned a lot while working on TF2 in the last year, and we were able to apply some of those lessons to Versus mode. As a result, we’ve just finished adding critical hits, respawn waves, flawless auto-team balancing, and facestabs to L4D, while removing anything that looked remotely like a grenade.

As if L4D wouldn’t be great enough if its development rolled along behind the backs of the TF2 team, to have the kind of collaboration that comes from working in the same office as the masters of multiplayer all but ensures L4D will be in strong contention to snatch the Multiplayer GOTY trophy the same way TF2 did (i.e. repeatedly).

Fortunately Robin and the boys are still beavering away on their own turf when they get a chance, with “a bunch of exciting changes coming down the pipe for the next class update.” Who’s it going to be!?
